Pingtan Delegation Explores Collaboration Opportunities with Malé City Council

A high-level delegation from Pingtan, China, recently visited Malé City in the Maldives to discuss collaboration and explore areas where they could provide assistance to the Malé City Council.

The conference, held between the Pingtan team and Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Mayor of Malé City, along with senior members of the city council, aimed to strengthen the relationship between the two regions.

Mayor Dr. Muizzu extended a warm welcome to the representatives from Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone during their visit. He emphasized the close relationship between Malé City and three Chinese cities through their existing "sister city" agreements.

The mayor highlighted the shared characteristics between Pingtan and the Maldives as popular tourist destinations. He also expressed gratitude for China's prior assistance to the Maldives and acknowledged their ongoing support.

Mister Jun Lai, the Secretary of the Working Committee of C.P.C and the leader of the Pingtan team, expressed gratitude for the valuable learning experiences gained during their visit to the Maldives. He conveyed the team's keen interest in establishing a close working relationship with the Malé City Council.

The Pingtan representatives also expressed their intention to study the strategic action plan of the Malé City Council. They assured their willingness to provide assistance to the council in achieving their targets if deemed necessary.

Mayor Dr. Muizzu reiterated the strong and highly appreciated relationship between the Maldives and China. He emphasized that the bond between the two nations has grown even closer from 2013 to 2018, and this visit further strengthens the ties between Malé City and Pingtan.

Alongside Mayor Dr. Muizzu, Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh, several councilors, the Secretary General, and consultants of the Malé City Council actively participated in the conference meeting.

The discussions held during this visit lay the foundation for future collaboration and cooperation between Malé City and Pingtan. As the relationship between the Maldives and China continues to flourish, it is expected that both regions will benefit from shared knowledge, expertise, and assistance in various areas of mutual interest.
