China Donates Road Sweeper to Laamu Fonadhoo

On December 24, 2024, the Maldives-China Local Cooperation Program (MCLP) marked a moment of cooperation and generosity with the official handover ceremony of a road sweeper donated to Laamu Fonadhoo Council by Yunnan Province, China. The donation, facilitated under the Yunnan Hand-in-Hand Program, underscores China’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life in Maldivian communities.

The ceremony was attended by Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Ms. He Fen, who emphasized the deeper meaning behind the contribution. In her address, Ms. Fen expressed hope that the road sweeper would contribute to making Laamu Fonadhoo a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful home for its residents, while also increasing its appeal as a tourist destination.
She further highlighted that China remains steadfast in its commitment to the Maldives, focusing on sustainable development and initiatives that directly improve the well-being of the Maldivian people.
